The country of Spain has a vineyard area of approximately 3,767,300 acres. The country produces 1,066,680,000 gallons of wine from about 7,154,000 tons of wine grapes.
Rioja: The best known production zone for table wines from Spain is the Rioja region. It produces 42,300,000 gallons of wine from 110,100 acres of vineyard area. The Rioja region is planted with 80% red grape varieties and 20% white. 75% of the production from Rioja is red wine. Of the remaining Rioja production, 13% is white wine and 12% is rose.
